Plastics Design Process
Our main design package is SolidWorks. It enables us to create
individual components and then complete assemblies from those
components to prove fit and form. We can accept all the commonly
used interface file formats for exchanging files between different
packages.
Part of the process we will go through with you is design for
manufacturing. Through a process of consultation we will listen
to your product lifecycle expectations and discuss any other
pertinent factors about your product (such as materials, surface
finish etc) to suggest the most cost effective method for taking
your concept through to manufacture, be it through prototyping,
production of injection tooling or simply the creation of high
quality graphics and animations to represent your product for
marketing and funding purposes. These will all feedback into
the product development and design stage so that the end result
is suited to the manufacturing method required.
Analysis is then possible in order to prove suitability for
moulding, strength and rigidity of the component right down
to the actual weight of the component in the required material.
From here there are a number of different options that can
be used to create rapid prototypes to prove the design, including
stereolithography, machining and silicon moulding where necessary
(if the detail and/or material requirement is not achievable
using SLA or machine processes).
