Heat Treating Process

After the part is extruded, it will be cut to length and then it may be heat treated. The purpose of heat treating is to reduce stress from the extrusion process, strengthen the part by making it more rigid, increase its wear resistance and/or provide a surface coating for corrosion resistance. Other surface treatments include anodizing, which is a chemical process that adds a controlled corrosion to the surface, and bright coat, which gives a mirror-like finish.
