Manufacturing in China FAQ's
Where are your factories located?
We have a network of partner factories across the Far East and Eastern Europe, which enables us to provide our clients with a high level of service, for a good price, in a short time. There are regional variations in price, technology and quality standards, so we select the most suitable factory for your specific requirement. Clients are always very welcome to visit the selected factory before or during production.
What happens when I send you my designs for quotation?
Step 1: A member of our client service team will deal with your initial enquiry and through talking to you, will gather all the necessary information about your project.
Step 2: Your project will be assigned an engineer, who will carry out a review of your designs and ask additional questions. As part of the quoting process, the engineer may make suggestions on the best method of manufacture, cost efficiency and potential improvements to the product.
The project is then handed to the Production team, who will liaise with our partner factories to prepare the quote.
Step 3: The client service person will then discuss the quote with the engineer and production team before forwarding it to you. The client service team are always available to answer questions you may have. As the project goes live, the Project Manager joins the team to ensure day to day smooth running and effective communication between the client service, design and production teams and the client.
Do I have to answer lots of questions about what I want - can't you just give me a price?
We always try to make the process as quick and efficient as possible for our clients, but it is very important to ask you some questions, in order to get enough detailed information to prepare an accurate quotation.
What file formats do MotionTouch accept?
We are able to accept: Solidworks, IGS, DXF, DWG and Step
How long does shipping take?
Prototypes and samples are delivered to us by express courier, which takes approximately ten days.
Production volumes are delivered by airfreight or sea. Approximate delivery times are as follows:
- Standard airfreight - two to three weeks on average
- Sea - up to six weeks on average from Far East (one week to port, four weeks at sea, one week at port in the UK)
Is the cost of shipping increasing?
The recent oil price rises have had an impact on shipping costs. However if the product can be packed well and shipped at high volume in a container, offshore production remains cost effective.
