Chas Donnelly, the Managing Director, Hampshire based entrepreneur and long time Golf enthusiast. Distributor of the “PuttMeBack†– golf ball replacement tool.
Chas Donnelly has come to MotionTouch in order for us to develop & realise his golf aid design. "PuttMeBack" is a device which will allow the user to accurately replace their golf ball marker, which has been needed to be moved during the course of a game of golf.
Typically, a ball marker can often be an obstruction on the line of putt, and a player is entitled, under the Rules of Golf, to request that the marker be repositioned away from the intended line of putt. This is usually effected by using a putter head as a measuring device and some object along the line of sight as a reference point.
It is very common for the player to forget to move his marker back to its original position when it's his turn to putt. This would result in shot penalties in stroke play and loss of hole in match play. Secondly, the ball marker may not be replaced on its original spot due to inefficiencies built into the method, e.g. poor sighting, bad reference point, or measurement inaccuracies.
The challenge was to make the “PuttMeBackâ€, by its presence on the golf green, a very strong reminder to replace a moved ball marker. It would also ensure that a ball marker is replaced on the exact spot from where it was moved.
When Chas Donnelly approached MotionTouch he had a rough prototype, made of paper cardboards and pins, of the device he wanted to produce. He showed us the principles of the product usage. Together with the MT design team he managed to turn his idea into a very unique and successful product.
Simon Collings, MotionTouch's lead design engineer converted the prototype into the original product, using the right mechanisms. Ideally the PuttMeBack would be manufactured from a range of different materials including flexible plastics of various colours and possibly a light metal version, which may appeal to a different market.
The PuttMeBack is a golf ball replacement tool, device which will allow the user to replace their golf ball and put it back to the exact spot from where it was moved.
The PuttMeBack device is a patented, very unique and useful product, there is nothing like it in the market worldwide. The work began at the beginning of 2007. After a couple months of designing, prototyping and testing the device is ready to go to mass production.
Chas Donnelly says "It came to me in an idle moment a couple of years ago. If this product is successful, it will certainly mean a change of career!
The service that Motion Touch provides is excellent and I am very confident that we can work together to produce the exact business model needed to make this product a worldwide brand name. All the staff at MotionTouch are very friendly, helpful and, most of all, patient. They are doing all they can for me. Thanks for all the good work so far."
Henry Powell, Sales & Marketing Director at MotionTouch says,
"MotionTouch are delighted to have worked with Chas on this project. We recognised from the outset the excellent potential for the product. The close working relationship we formed with Chas was important in the smooth delivery of the project."
