Fandeck - Colour Chip Housing

The Fandeck is a new colour chip housing to facilitate easy paint matching in car bodyshops. It was designed to support the launch of the new DuPont paint system.
The Challenge:
DuPont briefed MotionTouch on the need for an economic yet novel approach to bodyshop car colour chip housing. They needed a design solution but only had a short leadtime.
The Process:
MotionTouch had a constant dialogue with our client at DuPont, Neil Marcus, to ensure that as much information as possible was gathered about the DuPont paint systems, the project and their expectations for the product.
Having processed all this information MotionTouch went on to produce a design concept, including CAD drawings, for the new Fandeck. The concept was presented to the European technical and marketing team and was well received.
The Outcome:
DuPont was pleased with the project outcome and design concept. Neil Marcus commented that the experience MotionTouch brought to the project, as a result of working with companies in industries very different from that of DuPont, added significant value.
Neil noted that MotionTouch were able to approach the Fandeck project with a fresh and objective view, benefitting from their experience outside the DuPont sphere. He commented, "For the first time our European team has been exposed to a completely new concept in colour chip housing".
Neil also highlighted the benefits of working with a small, specialist product development business as flexibility, quick turnaround times and a dedication to the client.
When asked whether he would use MotionTouch again for future projects Neil added, "I would have no hesitation in using MotionTouch for future projects, or indeed, recommending them to other companies - regardless of what products or services they produce".
